The Story Behind Broeky Bites

Hey there! We are so happy to welcome you to the official Broeky Bites website! After a year of working on our Instagram food account, we decided it was time to explore new platforms. Since its creation a year ago, Broeky Bites has been contacted for recipe ideas and collaborations. Creating this website was a way for us to respond to these inquiries and establish direct contact with all of you! We hope to grow this webpage into a fun and interactive platform where people can navigate new recipes and explore various food spots across the world. By reading this blog, we will take you through the life of two college students on a journey to discover the most delicious bites.

But before we begin, let us first introduce ourselves to you! We are two sisters (Emilie and Laura), who since young, have grown up living in different countries. Because of this International experience, we became third culture kids who grew accustomed to living in new places. This exposure to the world is what sparked our creative instincts. Since we were children, we also sought ways to channel our creativity. Whether it was through composing music, recording dance videos or writing novels, we always bonded over our common curiosities.

A little over a year ago, food blogging became our new passion. Although we were not master chefs, we did find enjoyment in creating homemade recipes and taking pictures of the final products. By exploring other online food accounts, we discovered the delicacies of healthy vegan food (chia pudding, nice creams and fresh smoothies... to name a few :) ). We were not vegans, but it was still a lot of fun to test out this new method of cooking. Overtime, these delicious vegan dishes inspired our passion for healthy and colourful cooking.

As Summer 2017 progressed we decided it was time to share our culinary passions. We were immediately drawn to the attractiveness of Instagram. Here was finally a platform where we could express and share our creativity with others. After days of deliberating over the right name to describe us, we created our own Instagram handle: Broekybites. At the time, we were on a family road trip across France and Spain, so we thought why not record our travels and the food we ate along the way. The concept of Broeky Bites thus evolved into a story of food and travel told by two college sisters.

Today, Broeky Bites has become both a passion and hobby for us. As it continues to expand, we have been able to collaborate with amazing entrepreneurs across the Netherlands. Being able to share our common interests with others is an amazing experience. Over the year, we have had the privilege to work with Brown & Serve, Koek & Pan, and Menu Blender. All based in the Netherlands, these were amazing companies each with their own unique additions to the culinary world. Make sure to check them out! And look out for our upcoming posts detailing each of these experiences. We also have had the chance to feature and collaborate other food accounts on Instagram. By creating Broeky Bites, we were introduced to an entire circle of passionate and inspiring food bloggers that have all been a pleasure to work with.
